When it comes to London, there are literally a million and one things to do, but for me, I like to find places that are a little different, or things to do that don’t instantly pop to mind. After many years of doing so, I’ve pulled together a little list to share with you.
Crazy golf may seem like a normal thing to do, but maybe not so much in London, in a UV glow in the dark room alongside a snooker hall. This is exactly what Plonk is! A short walk from both Dalston stations, Plonk is housed within Efes Snooker Hall and costs £10 an adult. It’s great fun, and we were there for around an hour. There was such a mix people from those in fancy dress, hipsters and those only there for the snooker. Book in advance as it’s only open of an evening so tickets go quick!
Pop Up bars and restaurants are still taking London by storm, and there are new ones popping up weekly. It’s really worth keeping an eye on what is opening on Twitter as you might miss something good. My personal favourite pop up organisers are Lollipop, the team behind the now-famous Breaking Bad RV cocktail making fun and they’re now hosting The Bletchley. If you’re a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch then this is a bar for you as it’s based around The Imitation Game and gave us such a good, hands on, night out.
There are plenty of bus tours that will take your round London, but how about a night time tour to show the lights of London? See London by Night will take you out for around 2 hours in their open top bus to all of the best lights around London, including Harrods and Tower Bridge. The tours operate nightly, and can be purchased in advance. Get there early to get up on the top deck for a better view and clearer photos.
If you’re up for venturing slightly further out whilst the sun is shining, then head over to Crystal Palace park to find all of their dinosaurs. Yes, you read that right, there are dinosaurs all around the park that can be viewed. Sadly you can’t get too close to prevent scaring them, I mean, to stop them being climbed on!
Back onto the bar theme, there’s a chain called B.Y.O.C – Bring Your Own Cocktail. I rocked up with a friend, a bottle of rum and for the 16 year old girl in me, a bottle of peach schnapps and we had two hours with our mixologist to mix us up to five cocktails each using the booze we had taken. They use all their own mixers so you do pay a fee on the door but it’s more than worth it. They have locations all around London.

I’ve heard of the UV Golf actually, definitely something I would try! I love mini golf! The dinosaurs at Crystal Palace park sound a lot of fun too!

There really is so much to do in London – I work there and I didn’t realise any of these things were available. I did a food walking tour in Soho last year though and that was really insightful – I’d definitely recommended one.
The crazy golf sounds great! I saw another one near the city that looked fantastic too and keep meaning to go. I am south so Dalston is a bit of a journey for me but I am often up that way so might pop in. I have checked out the dinosaurs in Crystal Palace before but didn’t realise there was a maze in there too that is next on my list to visit. Have you been there too?
I’m going to have to suggest going to this bring your own cocktail bar with my sister. It looks amazing. It looks like lots of fun too!
I haven’t been to London for anything other than business or flights for so long… Not since New Year’s 2016… I’ve got to go back again!
I love mini golf so that would be something on my to do list. I like the idea of a night tour as everything always looks prettier when it is lit up x

London is one of these places I’ve always wanted to visit. If I’m every lucky enough, I’d love to spend my nights taking bus tours and my days playing mini golf and checking out all of the restaurants!
I think I would definitely be up for some crazy golf and pop up bar too lol
