With darker evenings just a few short weeks away, I had been on the lookout for a light switch timer. With many burglaries happening in our neighbourhood, I wanted a device which would give me a little peace of mind. I wanted a product which would turn on at a select time and turn off at a select time meaning that people would always suspect that someone was at home. Recently we were sent a light switch timer to review.
Before having purchased a light switch timer, I was always under the impression that a light switch timer would be hard to install and very fiddly. I was under the impression that the light switch timer may leave marks on my wall and installing one would mean I would need to fill in holes in the wall when I moved out of my rented accommodation however after being sent a light switch timer, all my assumptions were wrong.
The light switch timer that we were sent was easy to install. It took us a matter of 5 minutes. All we simply did was install the batteries, remove one of the coggs on the back of the timer due to us having a single switch light and then all we were left to do was carefully loosen the light switch plastic plate so we could slide the light timers cradle behind it. We then had to retighten the screws on the light switch plastic plate to hold the cradle and we were then set to time the light switch timer.
Setting the timer on the light switch timer was a very simple process. Included with the light timer were easy to follow instructions as well as a few diagrams. After a quick read of the instructions we were easily able to set the light timer up. I set the timer to turn on for around 4 hours per evening, I managed to get the timer set up and working in one hit which was a surprise.
We have now been using the timer for around a month and we are happy we went ahead and installed the light switch timer. We now have peace of mind that the timer will work whether we are at home, on holiday or at work. We feel that the timer never lets us down and it always turns on, right on time. Eventually we may need to change the timers however we are aware that this is a simple process and we are more than happy to do this when the time is right.
The only small negative thing I have to say about the timer is that is is quite loud. When the timer turns itself on and off, the process can be quite loud and at first we were worried that Maxwell may wake up due to the timer being located upstairs near our bedrooms, however this was not the case. Over time we have got used to the sound the timer makes when it is turning on and off and we now feel it is a part of the daily noise we have in our home.
The light switch timer is priced at just £29.99 which I think is great value. This piece of kit is something that can protect your home but also make you feel safe when going home. I hate going home to the dark, knowing that I am stepping into my home with a light on makes it much more warming.

Encouraging routine, whilst being supported by technology :- Thus avoiding elderly and youngsters into reaching for light switch, as on some occasions may be at Risk of loosing balance, risk of fall.
Would be tempted to get Light Switch Timer for Bedroom, as would allow for settling into bed, some book reading, and remaining cosy. As no need to get up to turn of light :- Risking becoming more awake, and possible Risk of fall, when returning to bed in the Dark. This TimerLight Switch would be Bliss. Assisting Sleep Hygiene.
