It’s a whole new year! How exciting is that? I’m sure some of you thought that 2016 was pretty crummy, and that’s definitely true in some aspects. However, I think it was a great year for blogging. So many fresh, new ideas came to fruition and with some good planning, 2017 will be just the same! But how do you start blogging this year on the right foot? Whether you’ve already started a blog and you’re a blogging pro, or you chose 2017 to finally take the jump and create your first blog. This post should help you get started in the right direction and solidify some good habits!
Have a Plan
You’ve probably heard this a hundred times, but it’s solid advice. Write down some goals that you want to achieve this year when it comes to blogging. Print out your list of goals and hang them somewhere that you can see every day! At your desk, on the fridge, wherever you want! If you’re having trouble coming up with some goals for your blog in 2017, here are a few to get you started.
- Increase page views by xx%
- Monetize your blog to make full time income and work from home.
- Reach out and work with your favorite brands that relate to your niche.
- Publish a new post every day, week, or bi-weekly.
Create Engaging Content
Of course you can’t really accomplish many goals if you don’t have an audience. How do you get an audience? Of course, by creating engaging content. A mix of trending articles, evergreen posts, and anything that gives something for your reader to take away is a good start. Like this post for example, you’re picking up some tips to stay on top of things this year. Consider making a post for your audience on how to stay on track with a new diet or something else that fits within your area of expertise!
Grow Your Brand
There’s no better time than now to start to gain more traction. This means creating multiple social media channels and engaging with other creators. Things like Pinterest or Stumbleupon can bring you massive amounts of traffic if you learn how to use them. They’re pretty easy to pick up and run with. If you have trouble, there are loads of free or cheap resources online that will help you get a good handle on things!
What do you plan on doing this year? I’d love to hear about your goals in the comments! If you have some good ideas on how to start off 2017 on the right blogging foot, leave them in the comments for everyone to check out! Thanks for stopping by!
