I was sat thinking – there are things about the blogging work that don’t half drive me crazy from time to time, most of the time I’m easy going, blogs are your area of the internet to do what you want in, so if you want to play your favourite song, use swirly writing or an odd coloured back ground that’s ok – I just won’t visit, if you want to use a captcha on comments, that’s your prerogative and I just won’t comment but there is some things that downright erk me and I’m going to spill my guts.
Blogging is an easy way to get stuff for free.
Anyone who thinks blogging is going to be easy will be sorely disappointed, while to some writing may come easily, or perhaps it could be easy to get a good photo, nothing is simple – you need time, time to write and edit, time to take photos, time to try each product and then time to promote. Nothing a blogger gets is free; everything a good blogger gets has been worked for.
Stealing content is OK.
There seems to be a thing at the moment that taking content from another blogger or goggling images and popping them into posts is ok as long as they link back (or sometimes don’t), why is OK to take someone’s work? I mean you would be pretty annoyed if a work colleague stole your presentation and took all the credit – why is it different because we are on the internet?
Stealing ideas is also OK.
A little different from content is ideas, you know when a blogger does something and people enjoy it (perhaps a linky) and then suddenly someone else starts up the same thing a couple of weeks later – I know imitation is the highest form of flattery but sometimes you just want to yell at people GET YOUR OWN IDEAS!
Begging is a good look.
OK there is nothing wrong with getting yourself out there and noticed – blogging has become a pretty saturated market, but I’ve cringed at the timelines of some bloggers timelines where every tweet is Hi I’m a blogger I would love to review your REALLLY expensive holiday / car / electronic appliances / house – here check out my 2 day old blog with no content..

So it might have been when you were at skool school and you were texting your mates and sometimes it’s a must when trying to fit all you need to say into 140 characters over on twitter, but if you are writing a review for a company and you want people to read it – then please try and write I was really happy instead of i woz or i were.
Jealousy is just your colour.
Someone else in the blogging world got that opp you were really wanting and your first thought is the green monster from deep – how could they choose them over you, or perhaps you had never heard of it but just NEED them to pass your details on like NOW! Come on people – we are meant to be a community, lets congratulate one another, I’m sure you have had amazing opps that person would have loved as well maybe next time.
Very true. Have had an idea stolen in the past for an, well wont say too polite, even down to the name so know how that feels. Its not OK. But you have to kind of chalk it up to experience. The only person I think who looks bad on the jealousy angle though is the jealous person moaning. I have found that, in the years I’ve blogged, I’ve been really popular and blessed with amazing stuff to write about. Then I’ve had a few scant years. You just keep on keeping on and you get found again. Thats just how it is and you can’t win ’em all.
It pisses me off when I see that others have stolen someone else’s work. The blogger has put work, time and effort into their post and someone just flies by and steals it like it is A-OK.
Publicising your blog is fine but when people go on and on and spam you asking to visit their blog and share it, it just really annoys me. It’s like “no, stop begging, I have read it and commented my views, stop going on.”
We work and put time into our blogs and there is no right to stealing someone else’s content.
