Easy Ways to Try and Avoid Computer Eyestrain

If you know that you are constantly having to deal with computer eyestrain or even headaches then you will understand how frustrating this can be.

You can’t stop using the computer if you work in the IT or SEO industry but sometimes you won’t be able to work at all because of your headache.

You may even find that you experience pain in the neck and shoulders, or even that you find it hard to focus for longer periods of time.

Luckily, there are ways that you can try and avoid eyestrain and you can even stop the problems that tend to come with it as well. If you want to find out more then take a look below.

Ensure Proper Lighting

It helps to make sure that you have the right lighting on your computer.

If you want to do this then the visor test is a great way for you to get this done.

Cup your hands and place them over your eyes, mimicking a baseball cap.

If you feel better then you instantly need to try and change the lighting.

Try and experiment here, making the lighting brighter and then dimmer to see if you can find a happy medium that works for you.

You can also try and reduce the glare on your computer by installing an anti-glare filter.

Adjusting the window shades may work for you as well, so change the position of the computer and experiment with this until it feels better.

Take Breaks

It is so important that you are able to take regular breaks.

You may think that you don’t have time for this but this is never the case at all.

All you have to do is have a 5-minute break from the computer every hour or so.

Try and walk around the house, look away from the computer or even try and find a way to get out for a bit.

When you do this, you can give your eyes a rest and you can also adjust your muscles as well to give them a break.

If you are still having problems with your eyes or if you can still feel the eyestrain with doing this then you may need glasses.

If you suspect that this could be the case then you may want to look into sites such as Glasses 2 You as they should be able to help you with whatever you need.

Get a Different PC

Different PCs will have different pixel densities and they will also show colours much differently as well.

Of course, if you can you should always try and get the best PC that you can as this will be sharper and more contrasted in terms of certain colours but if you cannot do this then you can try and experiment with the colours on the screen.

Make your blog a different colour, change the font that you have on the screen or even try and use a lighter colour for your software if you have the setting to try and do this.
