The 26th of August is Women’s Equality Day, in history this date is linked to the 1920s, when the 20th amendment in the US gave the right for all women across the country to vote. Which is 2 years after women here in the UK gained the right, thanks to the hard work of the suffragettes; I do wonder what they would think now, almost 100 years after we gained that right, about what the world looks like now.
There are so many things we all still fighting for day in and day out – on a grand scale for many it is still a question of equality, will one day we all be equals no matter our gender, colour of skin or where we were born? And sometimes it is the smaller things.
Take blogging for many it is a dream to start one up, but then something comes along and it knocks your confidence, it could be a day where hardly anyone visits, a day when you don’t get any comments or worse still you get a really nasty comment from a troll and there you are stuck wondering if you should go on, or just give it up, because it shouldn’t be this hard should it?
There are male and female bloggers, but the biggest group are female, women do blog and it is not always an easy ride. With people patronising it, Mummy bloggers are mocked for being stay at home mothers with too much time on their hands, female bloggers who because of chronic illness, maybe being confined to home, try to do something positive. Be a voice, explain an illness, support others and run the risk of being attacked by somebody behind a keyboard.
The answer though is I think is for some it comes easily, but for many of us we have to work hard, gain confidence in ourselves and build on that dream we had at the beginning. I personally have so many days where I think I could really just stop this, give it all up and there are days when I think I cannot go on, take my blog going down the other week – I honestly was ready to give up, my blog no longer felt “safe” from the outside world. But I’m still here as I’m not giving in.
So I guess what I am saying is, whatever you are fighting for; big or small. Don’t give up.

I genuinely feel like this post was written for me. I’ve been close to giving up on my blog so many times but plod on despite feeling that people think it’s a load of rubbish. But like you said, I won’t be giving up any time soon and as long as I enjoy, I’ll keep at it.

I am kind of having blog burn out. Right now I am not posting much. Maybe after summer I can get back into the swing of things.

I don’t think we have Women’s Equality Day here in the US! I never knew it existed but I think it’s a great reminder to follow our dreams and not let anyone stop you.
It is so important to stay focused on your dreams. That gives you a purpose in life.
I agree! I don’t think you should ever give up on your dreams. It is never too late to achieve them.
I agree never give up, true it can be difficult though sometimes, but dreams can be achieved
I want to start my own blog but I’m kinda finding it hard. I still haven’t got a fully functional blog and I don’t really know how to get noticed. I don’t want to give up but the thing is, can I face the reality of my dreams?

There are so many in the world who do not have this equality – we are such a small minority really
unfortunately I,m still waiting heartache comes in droves my dreams just to have a happy simple life always fails miserably dream on as usual
