When you first start a new blog, you are probably full of ideas. You’re excited about this new project and you can think of loads of things to blog about. As time goes on, it becomes difficult for many people to continue thinking of ideas. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. There are some things you can do to help with this. If the ideas seem to be drying up, check out these tips.
Here is how to never run out of topic ideas for your blog:
- Read industry news. Stay up to date in your niche and you’ll never run out of great ideas to blog about.
- Bring in some guest posters. From time to time, it’s okay to bring in some other people to write for your site. It can help fill in gaps during slow times and it also gives a fresh voice to the blog.
- Keep an idea book handy. You should have an idea book for your blog nearby at all times. Use this to jot down ideas as they come to you. Even if they are not fully fleshed out topic ideas yet, you won’t lose them and you can preserve the ideas.
- Follow the trends. You can follow current trends in your niche and use these as a springboard to write about things that interest you and things that will interest your readers.
- Interview someone. Another great blog idea is to interview someone. You can introduce your readers to someone new or go in-depth with an industry leader. There are many great ideas hidden in interviews that you can take advantage of.
- Commit to writing regularly. The more you do it, the easier it will be. Commit to writing regularly and you will stretch that blogging muscle. Before you know it, you’ll be seeing blogging ideas everywhere (likely how you did when you first started your blog).
With these tips, you never have to worry about running out of blog topic ideas. Inspiration will often strike when and where you least expect it but in between this, you sometimes have to work for ideas. The best way to never run out of blog topics is a two-step approach:
Step 1: Always be prepared to write down ideas when they come and track every idea, no matter how big or small.
Step 2: Work toward finding new ideas in between the ideas that just flow on their own. Research, read, check out the competition, and stay fresh on your industry.
All of the hard work is definitely worth it!

I always have a note book with me as well as my phone with cloud docs to be sure I jot down ideas as they can come at such obscure moments. Great post with good advice. Thank you.
