Avon Review with Petit Moi – Big World

I have some lovely Avon products to share with you today; just some first thoughts/reactions on them and some swatches. I have the Avon ‘Magix Face Perfector’, ‘Ultra Glazewear Lipgloss’ in the shade ‘Rich Raspberry’ and the ‘True Colour Eye Shadow Quad’ for in ‘Satin for Blues’.

The ‘Face Perfecter’ first – I really like the tube that it comes in, I think it has a really high quality look to it and it is rather attractive in a makeup collection. This primer is said to give a ‘HD Finish – For a picture perfect, photo ready look’. It’s got an impressive list of claims as it’s supposed to work on pores, illuminate the skin and smooth the skin as well, all of which are things which I could definitely do with for my skin.

For some reason I was expecting it to be a clear, gel-like formula but it actually comes out as a much creamier looking texture. It applies to the skin really smoothly and leaves the skin feeling really nice afterwards – I actually considered using this for my wedding but the spf of 20 meant that I didn’t want to risk it in case we needed to have some flash photography (which we did, in the end). The spf is definitely not a bad thing, if you’re not having flash photography, though as it gives you a level of protection on a daily basis which is something a lot of people lack. This lovely tube costs £10.50 (here) which I think is quite a good price.

The ‘Ultra Glazewear’ gloss next – As you can see it comes in quite a standard gloss tube but I do think the type of plastic used has a very nice feel to it (not brittle like you get from a lot of companies). There’s no distortion in the plastic, either, which means you can see the colour perfectly through the tube.

As you can see the colour is really pigmented once you swatch it, that beatiful raspberry shade really comes through unlike in some brands. The gloss is quite thick but doesn’t feel too heavy on the lips and feels glossy rather than sticky which is always a bonus. I really like the formula of this gloss and I think this shade, ‘Rich Raspberry’, would be nice in the summer but, also, a perfect berry for the winter. The normal price for these is £6.50 (here)

Lastly we have the quad for blue eyes. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this as I hadn’t seen a picture before it arrived, sometimes a themed quad for blue eyes has some rather unwearable shades in it so I was very very pleased to see how beautiful the shades in this were. As you can see the quad comes with numbers pressed in to each shadow – 1 is for highlighting under the brow bone, 2 is for all over the lid, 3 is for the crease and 4 is for the outer corner.

As you can see these shadows aren’t thick, heavily pigmented and dense as a lot of shadows are. At first this made me wonder about them but within time I realised they just don’t Need to be that sort of shadow. When you’re buying a quad to match your eye colour you’re looking for something more natural rather than something that really stands out. These shades are perfect for a soft, natural look and if you wanted to dress it up a bit more you could easily turn it into a smokier look by adding more of the number 4 shade. I also think that number 4 would be great as a powder liner shade if you were going for a more intense look.

Shades 1 and 2 are very subtle shades but you can see them above – 1 is really nice for a gentle highlight on the brow bone, it’s not in your face like some shades are, it’s also nice for the inner corner if that’s something you like to do too.

The second shade, as you can see, is very gentle, too. It’s a soft, pinky, neutral which doesn’t show up much on my hand. It shows up a little more on the eye but not massively so because it’s not meant to – It’s is great for evening out the eye lid and just adding a bit of extra colour and a tiny bit of a sheen to the eye.

Number 3, the crease shade is a nice way of adding a little warmth to the look without it being too much, it’s got more pigmentation than the first two but still gives a lovely, natural look.
