If you are a blogger it is likely you are in front of a screen a lot, there’s the writing of posts, sharing on social media, networking and more, which always needs doing and as such it can be hard to switch off at night and get yourself a good night’s sleep.
With that in mind, I’ve come up with a few ideas to hopefully help you get a better night’s sleep in future.
Turn off your screens.
Around 45 minutes before you head to bed it is a good idea to turn off all screens, that means computer, tablet and phone. However, if like me you find that hard to do some phones offer the ability to turn off the blue light and set it to go off at the same time every night. I personally have my iPhone set to turn off the blue light from 11 pm (I try and go to bed at midnight) and for it to stay off till the following morning.
Make sure you are comfortable.
Making sure you have a comfortable area to sleep in, can make all the difference, so if your pillows are feeling a little well used, or your mattress is sagging a little, then it might be time to think about purchasing a new one. Of course, such purchases can be expensive so it is well worth checking to see if there are bargains to be had, such as these ones for Soak & Sleep: https://www.promocodesfor.co.uk/soak-and-sleep
Cut back on the caffeine.
I live on tea, I won’t pretend to deny it, but come 6 or 7 I make a conscious decision to switch to decaf to try and help me get a more peaceful night’s sleep. The same can be said for alcohol and big meals, they aren’t good to be having just before bed either.
Try and set yourself a routine.
It sounds obvious, yet it is actually something quite hard to do. Making sure you get to bed and get up at the same time every day can really help make sure you are making the most of your time asleep as it helps set your body clock into a good pattern.
Make sure your bedroom is set for sleeping.
Make sure your bedroom is a relaxing room, reserved for sleeping and not working in. For a good sleep environment, you should try and keep the room cool, free from loud noises (yep that TV isn’t the best idea to have in your room) and try and make sure your room is free from too much light.
Remember making sure you look after yourself, by getting a good night’s sleep can definitely help with productivity.
What are your top tips for a good night’s sleep?

We don’t have caffeine after 2 pm. We need as much sleep as we can get.
I’m so awful with turning away from screens! I need to work on this. I do try to always be in bed by 11.
I usually leave my phone on my computer table and never take it with me to bed. I think it’s nice to take a break from the digital world, it helps me fall asleep faster! These are all lovely tips!
Great tips, these! I’m terrible for getting up too early and then falling asleep early on the couch in front of Netflix. A really bad habit!
Good sleep is so important and I just can not properly function without 7 to 8 hours per night. I love the idea of creating a routine since it trains your body and internal clock.
These are great tips! Cutting back on caffeine is a big on and a hard one! I live on caffeine!
My husband and I have agreed on no phones 30 minutes before bedtime! This has helped us create a more relaxed mood so we can fall asleep more easily.
